Cabo is near and dear to our hearts and we hope that you have a wonderful trip.
Here are a few logistics, local secrets and our personal recommendations, enjoy!

Travel Documents:

  • While on the flight to Cabo you will be asked to fill out your immigration form - don't forget to fill out the bottom portion of the form under the perforated line!

  • After you clear immigration you will be handed the small paper stub - keep this with your passport, you will need it to exit the country on your way home.

Airport Transportation:

  • After clearing customs proceed toward the exit and make transportation arrangements (unless prearranged) at the desk just to the right of the OUTSIDE door (you cannot go out and then back in).

  • Warning: Many people will offer you free deals as you walk through the exit area and will swarm you, just politely decline and make your way to the transportation desk.

  • The cost per person to ride a shared shuttle is $17.00 each way. If you plan to use the shuttle to return to the airport, you need to get the round trip now and save your receipt.

  • You may secure a direct private shuttle van for around $90.00 if you wish. The private van will take you directly to the resort; the shared shuttle may stop at other resorts first. Taxis at the airport are also an option and can be located outside ($90.00).

  • Tip: I usually use my friend’s private car service that has a fleet of Suburbans. They wait for you right outside of the airport and will having a sign with your name. To book please contact Ernesto via email at reservations@bybservices.com tell him you're a guest in Villa 1502. All confirmations will take palce via email. The trip cost is $160 USD round trip (tip the driver at your discretion) -this is a great option for large groups arriving together!

  • For the flight home plan to depart Villa La Estancia about 2½ hours before your flight. Drive time is approx. 30 mins

Arrival at Villa La Estancia:

  • Upon your arrival, our Vacation Hostess will be waiting for you! Enter the main lobby and you will find the check in desks. Here all guests will need to sign in and they will put a credit card on file. This is a no-cash resort so all charges must be made to the room or on an individual credit card.

Groceries and Shopping:

  • Tip: Our Vacation Hostess will be happy to coordinate and do your shopping for so it is ready upon your arrival!

  • If you prefer to do the shopping, I would recommend taking a cab to the new Wal-Mart / Sam’s club. This is only a 5 - 10 minute ride. Overall, the produce and meat are very good. For large groups, bulk goods are always the way to go!

  • If you find there's something you forgot or need small quantities, there is a small grocery at Villa La Estancia in the market area just outside of reception. This market also has a small cafe/bakery with excellent pressed juices!

  • Souvenirs and knick-knacks can be found on the streets of Cabo and there are many vendors that walk the beaches. Don't forget, they're always up for negotiation.

  • Puerto Paraiso Mall is very nice and upscale shopping center only 5-10 minutes by cab from the condo.  Be sure to walk through the Harley Shop and have a drink overlooking the harbor.  From there, you are able to stroll the entire wharf area which has many great restaurants and a great view!

Cabs and Transportation

  • Cabs are plentiful in Cabo and typically charge $9 for the ride to town (more than 4 people is $2 per person additional over 4). All cabs are vans so usually they can accommodate up to 8+ people.

  • Taxi’s are very safe and are the recommended mode of transportation. I find you typically don't need a rental car if you don't plan to leave the downtown or beach area.

Amenities:

  • You have access to all resort amenities at Villa La Estancia and access to the restaurants at the two adjacent sister resorts.

  • There is nice workout room/gym that is small but well equipped, located by the La Casona restaurant. There is also a much larger gym connected to the spa just outside of Villa Del Arco next door, but there is a nominal fee to use that facility.

  • At the larger gym they also offer Yoga and group work out classes. I'd advise to check the weekly schedule and reserve a spot!

  • The spa is located at Villa Del Arco. This is a world class spa and reservations can be made via the resort house phone or concierge. They frequently run "daily specials" that they slip under the villa door in the morning.

  • Tip: your Vacation Hostess is there to help you arrange services or make any recommendations.

Internet:

  • There is wireless Internet throughout the resort.

  • In Villa 1502 we have dedicated routers for high speed connection. Login instructions are on the router.  There are several Internet plugs if you wold like to hard wire connect.

  • If you think that you will need to plug in then please bring a cable. If needed you may purchase one at the front desk for $10.00.

ATM/ Currency:

  • American dollars are accepted everywhere and the preferred way to spend money.

  • There is an ATM on site located in the small grocery store within our complex. I have used this machine many times and it’s been very safe.

  • Please note that the machine disburses Pesos only at the prevailing rate. The usual local (street value) conversion is currently approximately  ~19 Pesos to 1 dollar. However, some restaurants give you a lower exchange rate.

  • There are green "Cashola" ATM's in the downtown area that do dispense US Dollars. Warning: The ATM fees can be high, please note before accepting.

Dining
There are great restaurants in Cabo, many of these have the option of indoor or outdoor dining. I have listed some thoughts and suggestions below. Prices are somewhat less expensive there.  For evening dining, I suggest one night at La Casona (the hotel restaurant).  This is one of the best steakhouses in Cabo, with a very nice upscale atmosphere.  Consider dining under the stars by the fireplace. Be aware that it is pricey though.

I’ve grouped them by approximate menu prices: pricey, moderately expensive, and fairly inexpensive.

$$$$  Pricey (but worth it!)
Edith’s: This wonderful restaurant is one of the most recommended by the concierges in Cabo. The extensive menu has a wide variety of seafood, steaks, lobster, and Mexican food. You dine in their unique palapa, which is quite a pleasant atmosphere. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse: This New Orleans favorite steakhouse serves up some of the best steaks in Cabo. My suggestion is to reserve a table outside and enjoy the harbor view as you look directly over the fishing and pleasure boat fleet.

Alexander's: This restaurant located outdoors on the marina wharf next to the Nowhere Bar offers fantastic service, a friendly atmosphere along with their famous table-side cooking. Steaks, lobster, shrimp, and other seafood are their specialties. If your a shrimp lover, you MUST try the Tequila Shrimp!

$$$ - Moderately expensive and delicious!

The Office: A Cabo classic! Dine on the beach by candlelight with no shoes on. It has a nice fun atmosphere at fairly reasonable prices. The menu is nice, and what you would expect including beef, chicken, seafood. You need reservations in most cases as it a Cabo legend.

Nick San: This is a great sushi restaurant serving everything that you'd expect and it's fresh, fresh, fresh! Located in the downtown area it's very close when it's time to transition and head for Cabo Wabo. Everything is delicious and it's the best sushi in Cabo! My favorite appetizer is the black and white tuna - a must!

Mi Casa: It is one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in town. Originally, this was an old church over 200 years ago. If you want true traditional Mexican dishes, then this is the place. The concierge can help with reservations, which I suggest. But, this is a large place and usually the wait is not too long.

Baja Cantina: This is a nice open air place along the marina. They have really great pizza along with seafood.  Food is good and and a it’s very casual relaxed atmosphere. Just a quick note, this restaurant is headquarters for one of the biggest Marlin tournaments in the world!

$$ - Reasonably priced and tasty!

LaDolce: This is a small but great Italian restaurant and one of my favorites. The pizza is thin curst very good - I highly recommend the lasagna or pasta of any type. Try to make reservations or if you walk up there are a few souvenir shops next door to do some local shopping while you wait!

Senior Sweets: This bakery and sweet shop is located at the marina. Don’t be fooled by its sweet flavor as they serve up some great sandwiches, food and drinks. There flavored margarita's with lunch are great! Browse their show case for some very tempting deserts. Breakfast is pretty good as well if you're catching a quick bite before a boating trip.

Beach Party

Mango Deck: If you're looking for a daytime beach party, there is only one place in Cabo and that's Mango Deck. You can either walk down the beach from La Estancia (about 20 minutes) or catch a cab. This lively restaurant offers all day live entertainment and competitions often offering the winners a bucket of beers! You can sit down in the sand (beware it can get quite hot) snag a lounge chair close to the ocean or a table up on the deck (much cooler and there's lots of fans!). Wherever you sit there is great service and ALL the drinks are 2x1 all day every day! Tip: If you're doing a 2x1 frozen or iced drink, share with a friend if you can so your drink doesn't melt and is always fresh!

Nightlife
Gigglin' Marlin: Have you ever been hung upside down like a fish? This nightclub starts early, and has a high energy show using audience participation. It's a lot of fun!

Cabo Wabo: This legendary nightclub serves it up every night starting at 10:30, No cover and usually rocks until about 2 a.m. Keep on the lookout because you never know when Sammy Hagar (owner) will be in the audience.

El Squid Roe: This local favorite nightclub caters to young and old alike. Be prepared to dance and party under the stars as this local favorite rocks until the wee hours. FYI, dancing on the tables is permitted and encouraged.

The Happy Ending: Try your hand at beer-pong as this lounge specializes in it. Located in the center of town, it has a fun, friendly, and comfortable atmosphere with DJ music and reasonable prices.
